Getting into Holy Lands RPG is simpler than you might think. Whether you’re brand new to tabletop roleplaying or a seasoned veteran looking for something different, you can be rolling dice and hunting devils in one evening. Here’s how.
STEP 1 — Get the Books
Holy Lands RPG runs on three softcover rulebooks — the Trinity edition. Here’s what each player and Rac needs:
Adventurers (players): Start with Book 1: Genesis. It has everything you need to build your character and begin playing. Books 2 and 3 are great to have at the table as your campaign grows, but Genesis is all you need for your first session.
The Rac (game master): You’ll want all three books. Genesis for character and combat rules, Book 2: Book of Life for the world, Miracles, and enemy classes, and Book 3: Book of the Dead for dungeons, monsters, and everything that makes the Holy Lands dangerous.

STEP 2 — Download Your Character Sheet
Every adventurer needs a character sheet. Download and print the official Holy Lands RPG character sheet for free — no purchase required.

STEP 3 — Build Your Adventurer
Open Genesis to Chapter 2 and start building. You’ll choose a character class — Knight, Cleric, Devil Hunter, Saint, Bard, Spy, and more — and roll or assign your twelve Attributes. These include the stats you’d expect (Strength, Agility, Endurance) and some you won’t find anywhere else: Virtue and Wisdom, which reflect your adventurer’s moral fiber and spiritual depth.

STEP 4 — Grab Your Dice
Holy Lands RPG uses standard polyhedral gaming dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20. If you don’t have a set, the Holy Lands RPG shop carries dice sets designed specifically for the game — including the Racmaster’s Dice Set for your Rac and the Player’s Purse for your adventurers.

STEP 5 — Find Your Table
The best Holy Lands campaigns start with one person handing a rulebook to a friend and saying “trust me.” But if you don’t have a local group yet — or you want to play online — the Holy Lands RPG community is active and welcoming.
Join us on Discord — the primary hub for Holy Lands RPG players and Racs. Find campaigns, ask rules questions, share stories from your sessions, and connect with the creator directly.

Facebook — the Holy Lands RPG Facebook community has an active player base going back years. A great place to meet veteran players.

STEP 6 — Play
Gather your group. One person takes the role of the Rac — the narrator, world-builder, and final word on fate at the table. Everyone else plays an adventurer. The Rac sets the scene. The adventurers act. The dice decide what happens next.
There’s no board. No app. No timer. Just a world the Rac builds and the choices your table makes inside it. A session can last two hours or four. A campaign can run for years.
Start small — a single dungeon, a village in danger, a relic that needs to be recovered before the wrong hands find it. The Holy Lands are enormous. You don’t have to explore all of them tonight.
STEP 7 — Tell Us Your Story
Played a session you’ll never forget? Defeated a monster that seemed impossible? Had a Miracle come through at the last second? We want to hear it. Leave a testimonial and help other adventurers find their way to the table.
The Holy Lands are waiting. Let’s hunt some devils.
